Infinity enjoys being a member of the Tallahassee and Atlanta communities, and we place a great deal of importance on community support through our active involvement in charities and local events. As some of the events described below demonstrate, we achieve this by playing a dynamic and creative role in the community. Above and beyond taking part in exciting local annual events, like the Capital City Chili Cook-off, our staff are committed to developing and executing totally new ways to help our community. We’re glad to give something back to the community we’re proud to call home.
Here are a just a few of the events that we’ve taken part in over the past few years.
In May 2007 Infinity took part in a Room Makeover Event to refresh and refurbish some of the homes on the Tallahassee Girls and Boys Town campus.
A group of Infinity staff and their families redid the rooms from top to bottom, providing a fresh coat of paint and new bedding and accessories for the rooms.
Since 2005, Infinity has proudly sponsored the annual Back to School Drive at Bealls Department Store on Capital Circle Northeast in Tallahassee.
One day each summer, while many other children are still fast asleep or settling in for a morning of cartoons, Infinity employees take a group of 30 or so local foster kids from the Florida Baptist Children's Homes shopping for the upcoming school year.
For an hour before Bealls opens to the public on this special day, Infinity employees pair up with the children and cruise the aisles for new clothes and shoes. Typically, three school-appropriate outfits and a pair of school shoes are purchased for each child.
Prior to the shopping trip, employees give each child a backpack overflowing with notebooks, pencils, binders, and all of the other items on their school supplies list.
Infinity believes that when kids are prepared for school, they can walk into class on their first day feeling confident and excited about learning. Infinity is proud to be part of a positive experience for these school-age children.
Infinity is a proud annual sponsor of the Tallahassee Wine and Food Festival. Benefiting the March of Dimes and its Campaign for Healthy Babies, the Wine and Food Festival is one of the premier events on Tallahassee’s annual social calendar and raises significant funds for a very worthy cause.
Infinity is a 10-year corporate sponsor of and participant in this popular annual event. Infinity maintains a proud winning tradition at the Cook-Off, demonstrating both our firm’s commitment to the event and the cooking talents of our staff. The Cook-Off provides funding for the Open Doors Child Development Center, a Tallahassee preschool that specializes in the care of children with special needs.
Infinity has in past years sponsored the Big Bend Saltwater Classic fishing tournament. The tournament was launched in 1989 by The Organization for Artificial Reefs, Inc., (OAR), a private, non-profit, marine interest group based in Tallahassee, and currently, all of the proceeds derived from the event are used to expand and develop a system of artificial reefs in the Northeastern Gulf of Mexico, OAR's purview of operation.
In 2005 and 2006, Infinity joined Tallahassee’s Hometown Charities and the Area Agency for Aging in North Florida, Inc. (AAANF) in community outreach events designed to help area families in need. Together we raised money and collected food and personal care item donations for distribution to area families and a food bank. This has been an experience we’re looking forward to repeating in coming years.
In September 2005, Infinity announced the Hurricane Katrina Dollar-Match Program to benefit those devastated by the Hurricane Katrina disaster in Louisiana, Mississippi, and Alabama. Every dollar donated by employees was matched by Infinity and delivered to the Red Cross. Infinity raised over $4,000 to benefit the people effected by this tragedy.
Infinity proudly sponsors the Tallahassee chapter of the American Cancer Society’s annual Relay For Life®. Relay For Life® is a fun-filled overnight event designed to bring together those who have been touched by cancer in our community. At the event, we celebrate survivorship and raise money to help the American Cancer Society in its mission to save lives, help those who have been touched by cancer, and empower individuals to fight back. During the event, teams of people gather at schools, fairgrounds, or parks and take turns walking laps. Each team tries to keep at least one team member on the track at all times.
Infinity sponsored its first chess challenge in 2003 at Pineview Elementary School. The event, intended to promote better reading and analytical skills, proved to be a wonderful opportunity for teaching staff and the community to work together in educating our local youth.
Project Literacy U.S. is a coordinated effort to increase the level of public consciousness on the issues of adult literacy. Infinity staff have competed against other Tallahassee businesses in the Executive Spelling Bee sponsored by PLUS to raise funds for area literacy programs. Infinity has done very well in this event, although “bouquiniste” spelled the Infinity team’s downfall (after 18 championship rounds).
Infinity also supports a large number of other national and local charities, including:
